We take a broad view of what leads to addictive and compulsive behaviors stalking the minds of our youngsters, especially those who have experienced trauma.  Anything that relieves distress or generates pleasure is suspect.  If it does both – WATCH OUT! Mood altering substances such as marijuana, alcohol, prescription pills, and the new encroachment of social media and internet use will be examined through the lens of trauma, addiction, child development and parenting.

What are caregivers to do about these unwanted intruders into children’s minds and bodies?  Many strategies will be discussed through your experiences as caregivers and the presenter’s 25 years of clinical experience.  From room searches and drug testing to more empathy and family therapy; participants will leave with a deeper understanding of, and a few more arrows in their quiver to protect youngsters against, these creatures of compulsion.

Paul Buckley has been helping families and their children for the past 30 years.
