The numbers of Minnesota children coming into out-of-home care and moving to TPR are rising rapidly. Chemical dependency has overcome neglect as the number one reason children are removed from their families of origin. Enhancements in the child protection system mean that more children are being better served.

However, rates of adoptive placement disruption are also rising.

How do we prevent disruption in foster care and adoption? What are the elements that are now in play, causing some placements to disrupt after only days or weeks? How can child welfare professionals and support systems work together to keep families intact?

A panel of child welfare workers from around Minnesota, both county and private agency staff, will join Deena McMahon to share experience, ideas and strategies.
